IDRO Research Fellowships
The Institute for Design Research and Outreach (IDRO) Research Fellowship consists of one course release to selected faculty to develop proposals that show promise for generating external funding to support innovative or creative work having the potential for national or international impact in areas that (a) represent current academic strengths in the college or (b) develop new expertise and reputation in areas related to the new academic programs under consideration. Priority will be given to interdisciplinary collaborative proposals between CoD faculty from different departments or with faculty from other units at Iowa State or other institutions. Deadline: March 1, 2013, for proposals for fall 2013 research fellowships. Download RFP with application guidelines

IDRO Outreach Fellowships
The Institute for Design Research and Outreach (IDRO) Outreach Fellowships consists of one course release to selected faculty to develop outreach proposals that show promise for generating external funding to support innovative or creative work representing current academic and research strengths or have the potential of developing new expertise and reputation. Deadline: March 1 for proposals for fall 2013 outreach fellowships. Download RFP with application guidelines

IDRO Investment Grants
The Institute for Design Research and Outreach (IDRO) Investment Grant will provide up to $3,000 for expenses associated with development of proposals for external funding. Faculty may use grant money for travel to funding agencies or funder-organized workshops/program announcements, to hire an editor or technical writer, etc. Funds may not be used for teaching release/summer salary. Faculty are encouraged to employ students in research activities; therefore, applicants may request additional support in the form of graduate or undergraduate research assistantships for background research/proposal development. Faculty should not use these funds to conduct research, present papers at conferences, etc. There are no deadlines for this solicitation as faculty are expected to be responding to emergent opportunities for proposal development or collaborative efforts.
